Jeremiah 22:5 AMPC
But if you will not hear these words, I swear by Myself, says the Lord, that this house will become a desolation.
When watching a footie match, during the build up to kick off and at half time, they incessantly bombard us with adverts.
As they scream out their repetitive, unwanted blurbs, the only thing to do is press the mute button on the remote.
It gives me immense pleasure to filter out their sound.
I see their mouths moving, but hear nothing!
Now then, what about when Jesus is trying to speak some uncomfortable message to me?
Am I pressing the mute button?
Do I block out His Word because it isn't what I want to hear?
Look how Jesus grieved when His people rejected Him:
Matthew 23:37 AMPC
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, murdering the prophets and stoning those who are sent to you! How often would I have gathered your children together as a mother fowl gathers her brood under her wings, and you refused!
It's a solemn warning to me NOT to press mute when God is speaking.
Nothing but desolation awaits those who continually refuse His mercy and grace and treat as worthless His everlasting love.
Selah
