Intervene

The LORD looked and was displeased to find there was no justice.

16 He was amazed to see that no one intervened to help the oppressed.

So He Himself stepped in to save them with His strong arm, and His justice sustained Him.

17 He put on righteousness as His body armour and placed the helmet of salvation on His

head.

He clothed himself with a robe of vengeance and wrapped himself in a cloak of divine

passion.

18 He will repay his enemies for their evil deeds.

His fury will fall on his foes.

He will pay them back even to the ends of the earth.

19 In the west, people will respect the name of the LORD; in the east, they will glorify Him.

For He will come like a raging flood tide driven by the breath of the LORD

Isaiah 59:15-19

Scripture is full of Divine interventions in war.

Right now, I am convinced that the Lord is amazed at the complacency of the West in the face of the slaughter which is going on.

The desperate plea for air planes has fallen on deaf ears - so the destruction goes on, with cities reduced to rubble and millions of people try to escape the bombardment. Many are killed or left wounded without food and water.

Ordinary folk are reaching out and offering what little help they can, but only governments can make the big decisions about weaponry and air defence.

As I woke this morning I was reminded of the scripture above in Isaiah and I fall back on God's Word and hold fast to it as I pray.

In Mark 4:38 we read about the disciples waking Jesus up in the midst of the storm:

But Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on the cushion. So they woke Him and said, “Teacher, don’t You care that we are perishing?

Perhaps, I feel the same way, as I see the mayhem in Ukraine - "Don't You care Lord? You are Almighty, You are able to intervene. If no one is offering support - please send Your miraculous intervention."

I have read of minor miracles happening in the midst of the war and Ukrainian Christians are asking for constant prayer. Let's stand with them and pray on until the answer comes.

Father God, we put this battle firmly in Your Hands. Through prayer we ask for Your Kingdom to come and Your Will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. This we ask in and through the precious name of Jesus.
