Psalm 4:4 AMPC

Be angry [or stand in awe] and sin not; commune with your own hearts upon your beds and be silent (sorry for the things you say in your hearts). Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!

We are always in conversation within our own hearts.

When we think about people or situations, we're forever evaluating and making judgements - most often unfair or uninformed!

All of us have gone astray like that.

Psalm 55:21 AMPC

The words of his mouth were smoother than cream or butter, but war was in his heart; his words were softer than oil, yet they were drawn swords.

The Lord calls for us to evaluate our own hearts before Him and His Awesome Wholeness.

It's not comfortable, but it is necessary not to excuse our own inate selfishness and pride, but confess it and turn it over to Jesus.

He is able to give us a new heart and a new start.

What have I said in my heart that is unfair and unkind? Am I truly sorry for it?

Help me not to disguise my "drawn swords" with smooth cream! Help me be kinder and more forgiving!

Selah
