Psalm 119:5-7 NLT
Oh, that my actions would consistently reflect your decrees! [6] Then I will not be ashamed when I compare my life with your commands. [7] As I learn your righteous regulations, I will thank you by living as I should!
Of course we want to thank Jesus, because He loved us so much.
How could we not be grateful for His Amazing Grace?
Thanking Him with our praise and thanks is great and right, but a higher form is to "walk the walk".
In this passage, the psalmist knows that his life hasn't been perfect. He longs to thank the Lord by staying on the right path.
I'm in the same boat - I see so many faults and failings in my own motives and behaviour.
Many times, when I fly off the handle and speak angry words or harbour a grudge - I sink down in shame because I've hurt the Holy Spirit. I've failed to say "thank You" with my life.
Ok, ok I could give up in despair, there's plenty of reason to .... but there's grace - I need to get up, let God dust me down and "go again"!
Learning by heart - that's the thing!
Tucking away "God-Words" daily, until they become second nature.
Then the Holy Spirit will lovingly use these to prompt me back into The Way.
Father God please help me to say "thank You" with my life - this day and every day, until Jesus comes.
