Psalm 63:1 NKJV
O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water.
How thirsty am I?
Can I shake off the cobwebs of the night and seek the Lord early?
Truly we live in a world of spiritual drought.
There are so many "broken cisterns" promising fulfillment - yet failing to meet the longing of the barren soul.
Only One can quench that spitual thirst - the Lord Jesus - God Incarnate.
When He met the woman at the well, He spoke of the Water He offered:
John 4:13-14 NKJV
Jesus answered and said to her, "Whoever drinks of this water (in the well) will thirst again, [14] but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life."
What a Promise!
Do I realise that coming to Jesus I have a fountain of Life that will never run dry?
If my life has gone stale it's because I've forsaken that fountain:
Jeremiah 2:13 NKJV
"For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, And hewn themselves cisterns-broken cisterns that can hold no water.
Whatever the problem in life the answer always starts with seeking the Lord "early" - not leaving Him out of the loop until all else has failed!
It's a humbling thing, that pricks pride, to acknowledge my inate helplessness.
But Jesus made it clear:
John 15:5 NKJV
"I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
Getting out of bed and starting the day without Jesus is setting myself up to fail.
Lord Jesus let me drink deeply of Your Living Water so that I may be spiritually hydrated in the midst of this troubled world. Help me to realise afresh that I can do nothing without You.
Selah
