Homing instinct

2 Corinthians 5:8 AMPC

[Yes] we have confident and hopeful courage and are pleased rather to be away from home out of the body and be at home with the Lord.

I have always been a bit of a "home-bird". For me, there was no place like home and when away I always had a homesick feeling.

Actually, I thought I would always live in my family home till the day I died and didn't think anywhere else could ever feel like home.

God had other plans!

Sitting here this morning, in the place I now call home, I see how wrong I was.

When I was so heartbroken to leave my family home, the Lord knew what was ahead and must have smiled to Himself.

Yet, there is an eternal home that will far outshine any earthly mansion, no matter how grand.

Jesus is the architect and builder.

John 14:2-3 AMPC

In My Father's house there are many dwelling places (homes). If it were not so, I would have told you; for I am going away to prepare a place for you. [3] And when I go and make ready a place for you, I will come back again and will take you to Myself, that where I am you may be also.

Can you imagine what that will be like? Honestly, we are going to be blown away by it! Jesus, who knows us better than we know ourselves, has designed it exactly to our taste.

You may be homeless, with no permanent home or living in a fabulous palace, but nothing will compare with that Heavenly home.

Wait in the stillness before the Lord and let Him fill you with that Heavenly "homing instinct".

There's no need to fear death if you're in Jesus - it's just the front door key to your eternal home!

My great grandma, who lived to a ripe old age, had a vision of Heaven opened as she was near death. My mum was there at the time and told me of her last words. She said "If I could just tell you how glorious it is. If I had only known it, I wouldn't have worried!"

Jesus doesn't want us to be worried about dying or the future. He can't wait to welcome you home.

And I can't wait to be there!

2 Corinthians 5:6-8

Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:

7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Selah!
