Homeless

Luke 2:6-7 NKJV

So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. [7] And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

The King of Heaven arrives on the scene and has to borrow a manger - no red carpet for such a royal Head of State, no armed guard or pompous leaders to greet Him. No posh hotel room for his parents or welcoming banquet.

All was done in obscurity. Even the offering that Joseph and Mary took to the temple was 2 turtle doves - the one prescribed for poor people.

Leviticus 5:7 Amplified Bible (AMP)'But if he cannot afford a lamb, then he shall bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons as his guilt offering for his sin to the LORD, one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering.

So there was nothing ostentatious about Jesus' birth. He chose to identify with those excluded from the "Inn" crowd!

Yesterday Porch light, Kent's homeless charity posted a YouTube of a homeless man telling how it felt to be on the streets at Christmas. Stating that he always felt like an outsider, but at Christmas this feeling was far more pronounced.

Our blessed Saviour identifies with those excluded ones and is there on the streets with them.

By all means rejoice in your family, friends and loved ones, be grateful for your warm home, but don't forget those who have nothing this Christmas, because that is where Jesus dwells.

Reach out practically even if you only have 2 turtle doves to offer or a manger to share!

Matthew 25:40 NKJV

And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.'
