Luke 8:45-46 New Living Translation (NLT)
“Who touched me?” Jesus asked. Everyone denied it, and Peter said, “Master, this whole crowd is pressing up against you.” But Jesus said, “Someone deliberately touched me, for I felt healing power go out from me.”
Ever feel like just one more human cog in the vast wheel of earth's population?
Do you think: "how can God possibly see me, let alone have time for me?"
It's so easy to feel insignificant, rejected and sidelined.
BUT GOD....
The desperate woman in this story had secretly crept up to Jesus in the crowd.
She'd been menstrually bleeding for 12 years (imagine that, no don't!!). This made her unclean under the Jewish Law and she wasn't meant to mix with people.
Moreover, no doctors were able to help, even though she spent all her money on them.
So she thought to touch Jesus anonymously, get her healing and go.
No such thing happens with Jesus. He knows you as you reach out and touch Him, even with just a little bit of faith.
Although Jesus was on an urgent mission (to heal a seriously ill little girl) He had time to stop and meet personally with this poor lady.
You are important to Jesus, He sees you, even if you are far from faith:
Psalm 139:2,7 AMPC
You know my downsitting and my uprising; You understand my thought afar off. [7] Where could I go from Your Spirit? Or where could I flee from Your presence?
Like Zacchaeus, Jesus sees you "hidden in the tree" and wants you to come down from your lonely vantage point to find forgiveness and meaning in life (see Luke 19:1-10).
During all the suffering in earthquakes and war, we need to be confident, as we pray, that no one passes by God's all seeing eyes.
He IS on the scene and no pain or sickness is unknown to Him.
No one is hidden in the crowd.
