Heart problems

Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; [7] and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

There is a direct correlation between anxiety, stress, worry and spiritual heart problems.

Letting issues pile up without committing them to Jesus is a recipe for these heart problems.

And our hearts desperately need spiritual protection and personal security guards!

Psalm 37:8 NKJV

Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret-it only causes harm.

So how do I guard against these spiritual "heart attacks"?

A timely reminder is to bring all anxieties to Jesus in prayer - tell Him all about what's bothering me, what's on my mind, pour it all out before Him on a one to one basis in the quiet of the day.

But how often do I mull over problematic circumstances, imagining bad outcomes, leaving God out of the loop?

All that does is rob me of God's peace and gets me nowhere.

The cure is so simple... on the tip of my own tongue!!

Psalm 62:8 NKJV

Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah

Once I actually do that and leave my issues with Him then I'm promised this result:

"The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

So I say to my soul - don't just sit there - tell Jesus all about it!

"Oh what peace we often forfeit

Oh what needless pain we bear

All because we do not carry

Everything to God in prayer"

That's how to let the Lord guard my heart!
