Heart failure

Luke 21:25-28

“And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring;  men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”

If you watched Frozen Planet 2 last night, you would have been dismayed at what is happening in the polar regions.

Vast areas which have always been packed with glaciers and sea ice are breaking up.

Scientists warn of the consequences of the melting of the ice.

It is evident that something "world shattering" is taking place. And, it is speeding up!

However, long before scientists with their elaborate equipment came along with predictions, Jesus foretold of these things coming on the earth during the "end times".

Those without faith in Jesus will suffer "heart failure":

"men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth"...

That is the motivation behind many a protest happening by "Stop Oil" etc.

People's hearts are so fearful.

At this time, we must emphasise the trustworthiness of Jesus'words.

We need to read them and take them to heart.

Faith not fear must be our inner assurance.

Knowing that Jesus' promises are tangibly being fulfilled must motivate us to be more confident in His Return.

Again, there was talk on that TV program of maybe 300 years before the earth is destroyed, but Jesus will cut short those days:

“If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened"
