Romans 7:18 AMPC For I know that nothing good dwells within me, that is, in my flesh. I can will what is right, but I cannot perform it. [I have the intention and urge to do what is right, but no power to carry it out.]
Yesterday I was confronted by my nearest and dearest that my behaviour didn't match up with the "Word from the pillow"!
All too true, I confessed! For years I've been keeping a sort of prayer diary of how God speaks to me through His Word.
Friend, when you read these devotionals, please understand that I'm more in need of the guidance and correction than any reader.
These messages are aimed by the Holy Spirit directly at my own heart.
So if the message is harsh, remember that it speaks to ME first. I'm just sharing it!
Romans 7 explains the battle we all face between what we aspire to be in Christ and our failure to achieve it on a daily basis.
I remember being so relieved when I read that even the apostle Paul was experiencing similar frustrating contradictions in his own journey with Jesus.
If you're fed up of your own failures, you're in good company!
May I invite you to join the family of God, learning to "walk the talk" with baby steps: falling down and being picked up again by our loving Heavenly Father.
Am I excusing my own failings? No, but does an earthly dad scold his little one for falling over when attempting to walk?
No, he encourages his child to try again and get back up again.
So does the Lord treat us in the struggle to overcome our mistakes.
When someone points out my sins and failings, I plead guilty!
But I have the best "lawyer" in the court of Heaven.
When satan prosecutes me, using many witnesses to bring charges against me, Jesus stands up and pleads my case - hallelujah!
Hebrews 7:25 NKJV
Therefore He (Jesus) is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
1 John 2:1 NKJV My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
Romans 8:1-2 TLB
So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.
Revel in the love and forgiveness of Jesus and don't forget to pass it on:
