Romans 8:18-26
We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.
Today started with a groan for me! Joint pain, swollen eyes and glands and a sense of heaviness - all signs of getting a bit long in the tooth!
I've learned that a coffee, and time with Jesus will work wonders, let alone a long, hot shower and I will be good to go!
The older we get, the more we long to be released from the troublesome issues of this life. In our hearts we long to be liberated into our new life with the Lord and our hearts groan inwardly!
The whole of creation groans with us ready to be rolled up and made anew.
As lovely as nature is, we know it has been spoilt by the ugly footprint of humanity! Pollution and unmitigated "raping" of the earth's resources for greed and financial gain have stopped us from being good stewards of the creation.
Sometimes we gasp with wonder at some of the sights around the natural world. Then imagine with me how it will be when our Heavenly Father renews creation!
Isaiah 65:17 AMPC For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth. And the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind.
When we look around at what is happening in our world - especially in the current climate of unrest, pandemics and economic catastrophes - how we long for Jesus to come and set all things right and make all things new.
There's so much fear, deception and corruption - somehow we don't know who to trust. Even our governments and police forces are not always reliable.
Are you feeling heavy with problems? Our precious Holy Spirit offers a Divine change of clothes as we trust in Jesus:
Isaiah 61:3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.
Take courage, the best is yet to come.
Isaiah 32: 1-5 NLT
Look, a righteous king is coming!
And honest princes will rule under him.
Each one will be like a shelter from the wind
and a refuge from the storm,
like streams of water in the desert
and the shadow of a great rock in a parched land.
Then everyone who has eyes will be able to see the truth,
and everyone who has ears will be able to hear it.
Even the hotheads will be full of sense and understanding.
Those who stammer will speak out plainly.
In that day ungodly fools will not be heroes.
Scoundrels will not be respected.
My prayer for today:
Father God, I give my groans to You, please exchange them for a lightweight garment of praise. Wrap me around with the joy of knowing Jesus this morning.
