Each day I'm a recipient of Divine grace and mercy from the Lord.
Grace - receiving something I didn't deserve and mercy - not receiving what I do deserve.
I need both!
What don't I deserve? ...
... God's grace - forgiveness and salvation through the Cross of Jesus.
That's delivered freely because of the unending love of God revealed in Jesus - God made flesh.
Ephesians 2:8,13 NKJV
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, [13] But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
What do I deserve? ...
... God's judgement because I am, by my fallen nature, opposed to God. Intrinsically I am born with a biase towards sin.
Psalm 51:1-2 NKJV
Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions. [2] Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin.
Psalm 51:4 NKJV
Against You, You only, have I sinned, And done this evil in Your sight- That You may be found just when You speak, And blameless when You judge.
Today I rejoice in the immense boundless mercy and grace I find in Christ Jesus.
Without Him I would be eternally lost.
As the old hymn says:
Mercy there was great and grace was free
Pardon there was multiplied to me
There my burdened soul found liberty
At Calvary
