Genesis 1:27-31
So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. [28] Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth." [29] And God said, "See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. [30] Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food"; and it was so. [31] Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
So much talk about serving and preserving the Earth - the climate change movement is religious in its zeal.
We see Just Stop Oil adherents glueing themselves to roads, defacing buildings and monuments to gain attention for the cause.
Yes, we are to be good stewards of Creation, on our Creator's behalf, as we were commanded in the passage above.
But we are not to be like serfs to "Mother earth".
If we truly love the Lord we will do our best to preserve Creation's integrity for Him - like if we were looking after someone's house.
But the focus and worship is for the Creator only - put Him first and the rest will flow out of a loving heart.
But we have "forgotten" Him, haven't we?
Romans 1:25 NKJV
They exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served
the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
If someone is kind enough to let us stay in their house we keep it clean and in good repair out of respect for their property. We don't trash it and make it filthy.
The title deeds of this earth belong to God:
Psalm 24:1 NKJV
The earth is the LORD's, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein.
Yet not only the Earth but the whole Cosmos.
Let's be good stewards of the Earth for God's sake and trust in His plans for a new Earth untainted by sin.
