Isaiah 53:10-12 NLT
But it was the LORD's good plan to crush Him and cause Him grief. Yet when His life is made an offering for sin, He will have many descendants. He will enjoy a long life, and the LORD's good plan will prosper in His hands. [11] When He sees all that is accomplished by His anguish, He will be satisfied. And because of His experience, My Righteous Servant will make it possible for many to be counted righteous, for He will bear all their sins. [12] I will give Him the honours of a victorious soldier, because He exposed Himself to death. He was counted among the rebels. He bore the sins of many and interceded for rebels.
Imagine Father, Son and Holy Spirit in their yearning to share the love, in which they had eternally dwelt, drawing up a grand plan for an extended "family".
Much like a married couple longs to celebrate their union with children, a refection of their love - so the God-head desired offspring.
Long, long before the Cosmos was created the "risk of free will" was divinely evaluated, and the cost was counted.
Compare how prospective parents know the potential that their offspring may grow up to reject their love and rebel against them. But they resolve that it's worth that danger and freely pour out their love.
So, peering down the telescope of time, God the Father perceived that there would be a need for a Saviour.
Who would freely surrender the Union of Heaven's sublime Trinity in order to bring rebels like me into the Family of God?
The Answer is Jesus, God the Son.
What a plan, described in Isaiah 53! A plan drawn up before the foundation of the world.
Ephesians 1:4-5 NLT
Even before He made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in His eyes. [5] God decided in advance to adopt us into His own family by bringing us to Himself through Jesus Christ. This is what He wanted to do, and it gave Him great pleasure.
On this rainy morning this magnificent Plan must inspire in my heart the grandest of Hallelujahs!
"O the love the drew salvation's plan
O the grace that brought it down to man
O the mighty gulf that God did span
At Calvary"
