Jeremiah 31:33-34 AMPC
But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel: After those days, says the Lord, I will put My law within them, and on their hearts will I write it; and I will be their God, and they will be My people. [34] And they will no more teach each man his neighbour and each man his brother, saying, Know the Lord, for they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest, says the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
There are a few times in scripture that we read of God's handwriting:
* The 10 commandments Exodus 31:18
* Again, after Moses smashed them in anger Exodus 34:1
* Writing on the wall - Daniel 5:5 interrupting the Babylonian king's blasphemous booze up
But the best handwriting is that of the New Covenant - a personal love letter from The Lord - written in the ink of Jesus' shed blood on the Cross.
God's eternal way of love is to be inscribed on our hearts as we surrender to Him.
We no longer need a vicar or priest to know Him. We can know Him personally.
For the simple humbling of ourselves to Jesus for His forgiveness and cleansing, Our Heavenly Father will write His Laws indelibly on our hearts.
The Holy Spirit will lead us into all Truth and enable us to know and follow Jesus.
We need soft, humble hearts to allow God to write on them:
Hebrews 3:15
As has just been said:
Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.
Pray with me:
Soften my heart Lord
Soften my heart
From all indifference set me apart
To feel Your compassion
To weep with Your tears
Come soften my heart
O Lord soften my heart
