Psalm 103:7 AMPC
He made known His ways [of righteousness and justice] to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel.
Roki, my beloved dog, was a rescue - put into a shelter because no one wanted him. I brought him home and made him part of my family. Now he shares our home, our food and has changed his aggressive ways to a cuddly teddy bear because we shower him with love. We care for him and watch out for his well-being.
The Lord is not some intangible, nebulous "life force" like in Star Wars - no, He is the God who reaches out to be known and relate with each of us personally.
He wants to rescue those on the scrapheap of life and bring us home - just like I did with Roki!
For those with open hearts, He calls out, through the clamour of this world, to make Himself your friend.
In the Old Testament we find God showing up, revealing His Ways to figures like Abraham, Jacob and Moses - all flawed humans, but with a desire to relate to God.
David, the author of this Psalm, was named as a man "after God's own heart".
Did that mean he was like God?
I believe it means that his top priority was to be close to the Lord.
More than anything he desired to know Him.
For such a heart, the Lord will reveal Himself, His Ways and His Acts.
Of course, we can point out imperfections and great failings in each of these characters - the Bible doesn't camouflage their sins, thankfully, or we would be discouraged, when comparing ourselves to them.
Now, through Jesus, we are not only called to be friends, but are ushered into to God's family!
John 15:15 NKJV
No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.
Hebrews 2:11 NLT
So now Jesus and the ones He makes holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them His brothers and sisters.
For those who have ears to hear (spiritual ones), Jesus calls out for you to know Him and be His friend and part of His family.
Then, throughout life, He will constantly reveal His Ways and His Acts to you personally - one on one through the Holy Spirit.
That's a mega "hallelujah" revolutionary fact!
Father God, how can I ever thank You enough for calling me into Your family! What a wonderful gift of undeserved love You've provided through Jesus, my Brother - wow! Can it be that I can know You, it seems too good to be true.
1 Corinthians 13:12 NKJV
For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.
