"God is evil!"

The algorithm of YouTube brought up a clip entitled "God is evil".

There sat the huge, imposing frame of Stephen Fry being interviewed, arrogantly proclaiming that "God is evil".

The interviewer then asked: "What if you came face to face with God at the pearly gates?"

He replied how he would castigate the Lord for all the bad things that happen in the world - in particular, how cruel to create a worm whose sole purpose in life is to burrow into a child's eye and make it blind.

Of course he said that he had concluded, long ago, that there was no God and, after that decision, life became much easier.

Wow! As a lover of God, that surely cuts deep into my soul. But the Lord is big enough to deal with such pronouncements and the implications of taking such a stance.

This guy is lauded for his high intellect, but, in God's Eyes the truth is far different.

Psalm 14:1-3 NKJV

The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good. [2] The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who understand, who seek God. [3] They have all turned aside, They have together become corrupt; There is none who does good, No, not one.

So what is God's response to being ignored, rejected and rebuffed time and time again? Does He refuse to give air to breathe to atheists?

Matthew 5:43-45 NKJV

"You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbour and hate your enemy.' [44] But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, [45] that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

God's response is demonstrated in sending Jesus into the world to bring us back and save us from sin.

No, God is not evil, God is love, unconditional and freely poured out on the world.

God is not small minded and petty, but is truly kind and merciful.

How come so many can't see it?

2 Corinthians 4:3-4 NKJV

But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, [4] whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

Pray that the Holy Spirit would open the eyes of many unbelievers to the Truth of the Gospel.
