Luke 21:25-26,28,34-36 NKJV
"And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; [26] men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. [28] Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near." [34] "But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. [35] For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. [36] Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man."
We had a very imposing deputy head teacher at my school. She was a former policewoman, not like some we see today who are frail little women. No, she was very tall with steely blue eyes and a voice that could strike fear into misbehaving pupils!
When discipline broke down in our class, the desperate form teacher would resort to going to get her in order to restore order to the classroom.
Then one of the class would be on the lookout for her : "She's coming!" We could hear her stern steps echoing along the corridor.
So we all ran to our desks and sat to attention, alert, looking like butter wouldn't melt in our mouths!
For the pupils who wanted to learn, they welcomed her arrival, but for those who were disrupting the class, lacking discipline, it was a scary moment.
Ask yourself this question: "Do I REALLY believe what Jesus said about His Return? Am I ready? Am I watching what's happening in the world? Am I checking the signs of the times - much like looking at the weather forecast?"
Compare how Jesus described it would be just before His Return with what is going on globally.
Does it tally up?
If so, am I ready and watching for Him?
If you're anything like me, you'll want to escape the worst of the tribulation days. I want to be found worthy to be rescued, as Jesus describes it, and stand before Him.
So I tell my soul: "It's time to get ready, put my life in order, forgive old hurts and listen out for Jesus' summons."
Can you hear His footsteps echoing along the corridors of time?
Revelation 22:20 NLT
He who is the faithful witness to all these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon!" Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!
