Family ties

"That where I AM you may be also"....

John 14:3 AMPC And when (if) I go and make ready a place for you, I will come back again and will take you to Myself, that where I AM you may be also.

In our individualistic world we, to a large extent, have lost the collective family responsibility that other cultures have.

Old and infirm parents are put into residential or nursing homes, or, given live in carers.

No longer are they included in the family circle. They're put out to grass!! To salve our consciences we may visit them every now and then.

The "family ties" we have to Jesus are not so tenuous. He vows that He preparing a place for us - not isolate us away from Him - but to include us in His Presence for always.

Last night we watched a disturbing movie about a man suffering from dementia. He was afraid of losing his home and independence. When his daughter told him she was moving away, he cried: "What's going to happen to me?" He was looking for love and long term security. He was afraid and distrustful of being robbed of everything, stripped like a tree in autumn.

Aren't we all in a similar position as we grow older?

Isn't the same question echoed in our own hearts: "What's going to happen to me?"

Jesus' promise is for all who come to Him. He wants as many who will come to be included in His family:

John 14:18 AMPC I will not leave you as orphans [comfortless, desolate, bereaved, forlorn, helpless]; I will come [back] to you.

Thank God the Father today, that Jesus has prepared a room for you in His House. You have eternal family ties and security forever.

John 14:1-3

“Let not your heart be troubled. You are trusting God, now trust in Me. There are many homes up there where my Father lives, and I am going to prepare them for your coming. When everything is ready, then I will come and get you, so that you can always be with me where I am. If this weren’t so, I would tell you plainly.

Now that's a family tie that will never be broken!
