Galatians 3:26-29 NKJV
For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. [27] For as many of you as were baptised into Christ have put on Christ. [28] There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. [29] And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
What was the hallmark of Abraham? He certainly wasn't perfect - there were many flaws in his character. He lied to get him out of difficult circumstances for instance.
But Abraham had faith in God, enough to leave his homeland behind and follow the Lord's prompting.
Genesis 12:1-3 NKJV
Now the LORD had said to Abram: "Get out of your country, From your family And from your father's house, To a land that I will show you. [2] I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. [3] I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."
Pretty amazing really - to obey that Voice - without any Scripture to base it on - no spiritual mentor to refer to.
He upped and set out to somewhere - God didn't even show him a map!
The only GPS he had was God's Voice.
But his faith brought him glorious freedom - freedom from family ties, freedom from the past, freedom for adventure, freedom to start a brand new life.
In the New Testament we are told that we are Abraham's seed as we trust in Jesus.
There is a level playing field, no racial or class barriers, just one in Christ.
Like Abraham we are on the way to a home, our eternal homeland using faith as our ticket and guide.
We are gloriously free of our past (& present) sins and of our old life. Jesus is preparing us a brand new home with a new desires fit to dwell in His Kingdom.
Hallelujah!
