Psalm 73:26
My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; He is mine forever.
No one is invincible - even Ronaldo with his flexing muscles will one day succumb to the march of time. One day, no matter how hard he tries, his body will wear out, become susceptible to aches, pains and diseases!
Some of us know the reality of declining health even now.
Waking up can be a reminder that we don't function properly anymore.
The daily "march of the zombies" to the coffee machine or kettle to get going first thing is a painful reality.
Sound depressing?
The Psalmist knew that feeling too.
Purposefully, he put himself in the Presence of the Lord and reminded himself that, in the midst of failing health and waning spiritual energy, GOD IS THE STRENGTH OF HIS HEART.
Not only that, but the relationship will last FOREVER!
Yesterday I had a quite animated discussion with someone about the value of vows between a husband and wife. Those words should be a precious bond, almost like an electric fence around that relationship. That person begged to differ - it was alright for that moment, but "things change", "people change".
We are in a day and age when marriage vows mean little more than empty, pretty promises (to be tossed aside at the next opportunity for transitory sensual pleasure or when the feelings of first love subside) - but Jesus is committed to His own forever.
If you have given you heart to the Lord Jesus, you belong to Him for always.
He will never fail or forsake you.
You can rely on His faithfulness.
He means what He says:
John 10:28 AMPC
And I give them eternal life, and they shall never lose it or perish throughout the ages. [To all eternity they shall never by any means be destroyed.] And no one is able to snatch them out of My hand.
Rejoice in the midst of your creaky joints or aching heart this morning, the future is secure and bright - Jesus won't ever let you down!
