Fading away

1 John 2:15

Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. 16 For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 17 And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.

We hear so much about climate change and doing everything to save the planet. There are adverts, documentaries, world government summits to keep this issue at the forefront of our minds and on our collective consciences.

Yet this world, we're told in this passage, is passing away.

Whatever we do, however hard we try, it's like a crash team trying to bring someone back to life when there is just a faint heartbeat.

"The world is fading away" says John.

That was two thousand years ago, but the message is more relevant than ever today.

We need to understand that the world is on "LIFE" support [Jesus being the self declared LIFE].

Scripture tells us that He indeed sustains everything by the Word of His Power.

He is the brightness of His glory, the express image of Himself, and upholds all things by the word of His power. Hebrews 1:3

He urges us to focus on loving God first and then one another.

Yes, we should be responsible people towards nature, but Jesus came to save people, not the planet!

Our priority should be getting people to Jesus as fast as we can, so their future in the new heaven and earth is secure.

Prayer: Father God, help me to be a signpost to bring people to Jesus - the Hope of nations.

Matthew 12:21

In his name the nations will put their hope.
