Psalm 27:8-9 AMPC
You have said, Seek My face [inquire for and require My presence as your vital need]. My heart says to You, Your face (Your presence), Lord, will I seek, inquire for, and require [of necessity and on the authority of Your Word]. [9] Hide not Your face from me; turn not Your servant away in anger, You Who have been my help! Cast me not off, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation!
Have you ever tried to have a conversation with someone who won't look you in the face?
It's very disconcerting, isn't it!
You wonder what they're trying to hide - certainly their thoughts are elsewhere.
In the passage, the Lord is asking for a full-on relationship, face to face.
He doesn't want a text message or a WhatsApp communication.
He wants me to search Him out, not give Him "shopping list" prayers!
How often have I done that to God and felt nothing!
My very attitude said: "I don't have much time for you today - I've got a million and one things to do, but here's my list for you to deliver!
Well, I know how I'd feel if some "so called friend" treated me that way.
I'd conclude that they don't want my company, they just want to use me for their convenience.
Looking Jesus full in the face means being an open book before Him.
In His light, all my rotten bits show up. Won't Jesus be angry at me?
That's why David prays:
Psalm 27:9 TLB
Oh, do not hide yourself when I am trying to find you. Do not angrily reject your servant. You have been my help in all my trials before; don’t leave me now. Don’t forsake me, O God of my salvation.
No, Jesus won't give up on me - the Cross proves it.
He loves me so much, He was willing to be my sin bearer.
Every human help can be lost, but the Lord stays faithful:
Psalm 27:10 AMPC
Although my father and my mother have forsaken me, yet the Lord will take me up [adopt me as His child].
I say to my soul: "Never be afraid to seek the Face of the Lord"....
He's waiting with open arms and wants to meet me face to face!
Question:
Have I "Face-timed" Jesus lately?
