Psalm 103:17 NKJV
But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting On those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children's children
Psalm 103:17 AMPC
But the mercy and loving-kindness of the Lord are from everlasting to everlasting upon those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him, and His righteousness is to children's children-
In this "throw away" society, we've kind of lost the concept of something that lasts forever.
Marriage vows are broken, for a newer, more exciting partner.
Household appliances are made to wear out; and, smartphones are quickly upgraded and old ones discarded.
Yet deep down we long for something and someone we can rely on, don't we?
This verse points to that "someone"! The Father is that merciful "ever present" One in our lives. Once we surrender to Him through Jesus - it's forever.
God has no grandchildren, but there is a legacy that godly parents pass onto their children through example and prayer.
I think of my own mum and the precious values she sowed into my life.
Her love for Jesus influenced her actions and decisions - yes, she had a healthy "fear" of the Lord.
To such followers of Christ mercy and lovingkindnes are extended to generation on generation of their offspring.
Being the recipient of that mercy is poured out to inspire loving obedience in our lives.
Take a moment to marvel at the unending mercy you've received from the Lord Jesus and be thankful for those who showed you the Way!
By God's Grace, you too can be that godly influencer, whether you've had children or not.
Isaiah 54:1 AMPC
Sing, O barren one, you who did not bear; break forth into singing and cry aloud, you who did not travail with child! For the [spiritual] children of the desolate one will be more than the children of the married wife, says the Lord.
