Ears to hear

Isaiah 6:9-10 NKJV

And He said, "Go, and tell this people: 'Keep on hearing, but do not understand; Keep on seeing, but do not perceive.' [10] "Make the heart of this people dull, And their ears heavy, And shut their eyes; Lest they see with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And understand with their heart, And return and be healed."

The most serious spiritual state is to hear but not understand.

My nearest and dearest has frustrating issues with his hearing aids. Yes, he can hear that I'm saying something but his hearing is so diminished that he can't make out the words. It's just a blur of sound.

Often I'll say something and he gets it the wrong way round - one of our great misunderstandings! Sometimes it's laughable, sometimes it's mutually annoying.

To be like that towards God's Word is tragic beyond belief.

There are many people who have heard the Words of Jesus time and time again, but they don't understand or twist their meaning.

They are spiritually deaf.

In Revelation many times the churches are warned:

Revelation 2:7 NKJV

"He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God."'

Revelation 3:6 NKJV

"He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."'

Revelation 3:13 NKJV

"He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."'

Revelation 3:22 NKJV

"He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."'"

Have we become so spiritually deaf that we can't understand God's Word anymore?

Is it just a blur of jumbled sound that is incomprehensible - like a foreign language?

Do we call evil good and good evil?

Something to ponder on today....
