The Truth is out there waiting to be heard. But, as we looked at yesterday, our hearing can be impaired by our own entrenched views.
Psalm 19 tells us that even the heavens are speaking about the Lord, but how few really "hear" their message? Rather, theories are cooked up about the origins of the Cosmos.
Jesus uses the saying "ears to hear" many times after telling parables during His earthly ministry.
He used practical illustrations from everyday life to demonstrate a spiritual truth - like in the parable of the sower.
The same seed fell on different kinds of ground - the only difference was the kind of ground that received it.
Our spiritual ears need to be open, fully functional to rightly hear and understand what God is saying to us.
My nearest and dearest, bless him, has a problem hearing the letter 'S' - we have some glorious misunderstandings because of it! His ears don't always hear correctly! Without his hearing aids, he's done for.
Having trouble in deciding what is true? In God's Word we find our own "hearing aid" to rightly discern right from wrong.
2 Timothy 2:15 calls on us to take great care and study God's Word:
Work hard so God can say to you, “Well done.” Be a good workman, one who does not need to be ashamed when God examines your work. Know what his Word says and means.
Have ears to hear!
