Dismissive

Matthew 24:37-42 NLT

"When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah's day. [38] In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat. [39] People didn't realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes. [40] "Two men will be working together in the field; one will be taken, the other left. [41] Two women will be grinding flour at the mill; one will be taken, the other left. [42] "So you, too, must keep watch! For you don't know what day your Lord is coming.

My alarm is set for 6am. That gives me time to wake up and prepare for the day.

Yet how often do I hear the alarm, switch it off and go back to sleep!

Then I'm late for everything and grouchy into the bargain.

Wake up calls are there to be listened to and acted upon, not ignored.

The people in Noah's time were dismissive of the judgement coming on them.

Really they couldn't have cared less about God and the consequences of their own selfish, sinful behaviour.

Probably they even mocked and laughed at Noah's enormous boat building project.

They carried on with their lives, blissfully unaware that God's wrath was about to be poured out.

Jesus compared this state of affairs to the time of His Return.

No one is factoring in the Lord's reaction to the rejection of Jesus and His salvation freely offered to all.

The ark was open for anyone until God shut the door - Genesis 7:16.

How many drowning people tried to get aboard the ark when the door had been shut?

The door of the "salvation ark"

is still wide open. Wake up and get onboard while there's still time.

Who knows when God will shut the door?
