Luke 10:17-20 NKJV
Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name." [18] And He said to them, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from Heaven. [19] Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. [20] Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in Heaven."
On this day, when darkness is celebrated, we do well to remember that Jesus has triumphed over all the powers of the satanic and demonic.
Even before His Passion - the seventy disciples, sent out to share the Good News, discovered that the Name of Jesus subdued demons!
Now, after His Death and Resurrection, how much more are these forces quelled by His Name.
Let us, as His followers, abstain from all that glorifies evil - all sorcery, the occult, and media that inspires fear in our hearts and minds.
Instead, this is a day to celebrate the fact that satan is a defeated foe through the Cross of Jesus.
Colossians 2:13-15 NKJV
And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, [14] having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the Cross. [15] Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
We have seen how weak and helpless are the worst of terrorists once they've been disarmed.
Yaya Sinwar, the cruel instigator of the October 7th massacre, was reduced to throwing a stick at a drone before he was shot - he had been stripped of his weaponry and protection.
Someone so feared reduced to an ignominious death.
In the same way Satan has been left with only the stick of accusation, couched in lies, deception and fear (false evidence appearing real).
Stand strong knowing that the enemy has been disarmed. Through the Cross we share in Christ's Victory.
Hallelujah!
