Luke 11:4
Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.
And lead us not into temptation.”’
Forgiveness is something we love to receive, but it's not so easy to dispense.
When Jesus taught us to pray, He left us a master key which, if used, will transform our lives.
That key is forgiveness.
Listening to the story of Eva, one of the "Mengele" twins, a survivor of the most ghastly experiments undertaken on pairs of twins in the Auschwitz concentration camp during the Holocaust, it was staggering to learn the depth of forgiveness a human heart can produce.
https://youtu.be/uWu6mlQC0N0 It's an amazing journey of forgiveness - from anger and depression - to liberation and the spreading of the message of peace. If you have the chance - it is well worth a watch.
It raised big questions in my own heart. How much have I forgiven those who have hurt me?
The hurts I have experienced are nothing in comparison with this little lady.
The prayer Jesus gave us says "forgive us our sins because we also forgive EVERYONE who sins against us."
I'm virtually certain that none of us has experienced the suffering that Eva went through in Auschwitz, yet she found it in her heart, without being a Christian, to forgive her torturers.
I leave you to mull over afresh what our Saviour asked of us.
Holy Spirit please come and help us where we fall short and empower us in supernatural forgiveness - in Jesus' name.
