Death of a monarch

Isaiah 6

In the year that King Uzziah died, [in a vision] I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and the skirts of His train filled the [most holy part of the] temple. [2] Above Him stood the seraphim; each had six wings: with two [each] covered his [own] face, and with two [each] covered his feet, and with two [each] flew. [3] And one cried to another and said, Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!

Britain is mourning for the Queen who died yesterday.

Unashamedly, I shed tears, and, as I write this, more tears well up.

I've known no other monarch in my lifetime - and her stoic presence has steered the country through thick and thin.

Her passing marks the end of a truly faithful servant of this country.

So, it is right and proper to take time to mourn for her.

Isaiah, in the passage above, was mourning the passing of King Uzziah who had reigned a long time over Judah:

2 Chronicles 26:3 AMPC

Uzziah was sixteen years old when he began his fifty-two-year reign in Jerusalem.

It was at this point, at a time of national grief, that he saw the Lord, high and lifted up.

It was a life changing moment for him.

It refocused his gaze toward the Lord and His Eternal Presence.

For us Brits, it is a momentous time of change too.

Now she has gone, with her Christian faith - what lies ahead for the national consciousness?

As Christians there is an ever present "Rock" in our lives - Jesus, the King of all kings. His reign will never end:

Isaiah 9:7

Of the greatness of His government and peace  there will be no end.

He will reign on David’s throne  and over His kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness  from that time on and forever.

The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

Let's be thankful for our Queen's life, but take solace in the King of all kings - King Jesus -who is alive forevermore.
