Acts 16:1
One day as we [Luke, Paul, and their companions] were going down to the place of prayer, we met a slave girl who had a spirit that enabled her to tell the future. She earned a lot of money for her masters by telling fortunes. 17 She followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God, and they have come to tell you how to be saved.” 18 This went on day after day until Paul got so exasperated that he turned and said to the demon within her, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And instantly it left her.
There is a worrying trend for people (especially kids) to be drawn towards all things supernatural. You've only to look at the success of the Harry Potter stories as a case in point.
Folk are desperate to know what lies in their future and to have spiritual power. That gives a foothold for Satan to get involved, despoiling our lives.
The Bible is very clear that divination without God at its source is very wrong.
Even though the spirit that possessed the young servant girl was telling the part truth, Paul discerned that this spirit was not of God and was holding the girl captive.
Satan's work is at its most dangerous when disguised in part truth:
2 Corinthians 11:13
For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15 So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.
Sadly, consulting mediums, fortune tellers and horoscopes are common practice among those looking for answers.
Isaiah 8:19 AMPC
And when the people [instead of putting their trust in God] shall say to you, Consult for direction mediums and wizards who chirp and mutter, should not a people seek and consult their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living?
Stay far away from anything of the occult - any spirit force that does not exalt the Lord Jesus is deceptive.
If the Lord wants you to know your future He will show you, otherwise stand firm, knowing your life is safe with Him.
