Consider

Matthew 6:27

Consider the lilies...

There are so many issues that tug at our minds vying for attention - like a kid in a supermarket tugging at mummy's arm: "mummy, mummy can I have some sweets?" - We all get distracted from the most important task.

It's so easy to let worry override our faith in Jesus.

He knew this so very well and that's why He tells us to stop and "consider the lilies".

Read v25-34 NLT - it is a sound basis for the whole of life:

“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? 27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?

28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, 29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?

31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God[a] above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today."

Jesus tells us to stop, slow down, get before God FIRST, before worry can get a foothold.

Look out at nature, the flowers and the birds - see how our Heavenly Father sustains everything and remember He is looking out for you as you seek Him FIRST!

"First things first" as the saying goes.

I can imagine Jesus, when He was growing up spending much time walking in the surrounding countryside - stopping to take in the beauty of a flower or a bird. I have personally witnessed the beauty of wild flowers and birds in the Holy Land, many of you will have been "bored" by the many links sent to you!

Don't underestimate the power of creation to inspire and point you to the Creator.

We have lilies in our garden and they gently unfold their pristine white scrolls towards the sunlight - beautiful!

Psalm 8:3-4 AMPC

When I view and consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained and established, [4] What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of [earthborn] man that You care for him?

We have an amazing God, with amazing love for each one of us - consider THAT!
