Isaiah 40:1-5 NKJV
"Comfort, yes, comfort My people!" Says your God. [2] "Speak comfort to Jerusalem, and cry out to her, That her warfare is ended, That her iniquity is pardoned; For she has received from the LORD's hand Double for all her sins." [3] The voice of one crying in the wilderness: "Prepare the way of the LORD; Make straight in the desert A highway for our God. [4] Every valley shall be exalted And every mountain and hill brought low; The crooked places shall be made straight And the rough places smooth; [5] The glory of the LORD shall be revealed, And all flesh shall see it together; For the mouth of the LORD has spoken."
This Word woke me this morning.
It's a prophecy about Israel.
It is an instruction from the Lord to speak comfortingly and tell them that their warfare has ended, which, plainly has not yet happened!
Just a cursory glance at news shows enemies on every border ready and able to attack.
Handel's Messiah proclaims these verses in rousing tones of orchestra and choir.
The Lord has proclaimed the future events when all flesh shall see the glory of the Lord - with the focus on Israel and Jerusalem.
Again, obviously, this has not yet taken place as other belief systems and those with none are literally peppered across the earth.
The forces of evil are trying so hard to extinguish the Jewish nation and encourage diabolical hatred against the Hebrew people wherever they are.
But, be mightily assured, a day is coming when this prophecy will be fulfilled:
For the Mouth of the Lord has spoken - this cannot be held back - Hallelujah!
Time to encourage and remind God's people that He is in ultimate charge and will be glorified in Israel and in all the nations of the earth.
It looks impossible, but, with God nothing is impossible.
He has spoken. It will be done!
