Clearing up our mess

1 Corinthians 3:9 NKJV

For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, you are God's building.

We are having some building work done and my nearest and dearest is helping out with the labour.

Carefully, he is clearing up the mess - the rubble, the wood shavings - sweeping up the general debris so that the builder can start a new day with a clean site and so that our lovely dog won't get splinters in his paws!

Then, even though he's tired, he goes around tending the garden, making sure the plants and flowers are watered.

Yes, he's pretty amazing! I'm truly blessed.

It put me in mind of how the Lord is constantly clearing up after us.

Even as we labour for Jesus, we do tend to make a mess. There are mistakes, we leave spiritual and emotional "rubble" around - that could hurt people and be a deterrent for them to come to Christ.

Thankfully and mercifully the Holy Spirit is on hand to be our fellow labourer, perpetually sweeping up after us, preparing "the site" for a new day!

1 Corinthians 3:5-7 NKJV

Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one? [6] I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. [7] So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.

Psalm 127:1-2 NKJV

Unless the LORD builds the house, They labour in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain. [2] It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late, To eat the bread of sorrows; For so He gives His beloved sleep.

Always be aware that we are God's building and He is the Designer, Architect and Fellow Labourer.

Thank You, Heavenly Father for Your Master Plan of Salvation and thank You Jesus for the Finished Work of the Cross. Bless You Holy Spirit for being "on site" continually clearing up our mess and making it a message of Hope for all those around us.
