Bought and paid for

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 AMPC

Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary) of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God? You are not your own, [20] You were bought with a price [purchased with a preciousness and paid for, made His own]. So then, honour God and bring glory to Him in your body.

Ephesians 2:13 AMPC

But now in Christ Jesus, you who once were [so] far away, through (by, in) the blood of Christ have been brought near.

Galatians 3:13 AMPC

Christ purchased our freedom [redeeming us] from the curse (doom) of the Law [and its condemnation] by [Himself] becoming a curse for us, for it is written [in the Scriptures], Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree (is crucified);

Just over 2 years ago I paid Last Chance Rescue £160 for a Labrakita dog. He had been taken there because he wasn't wanted by his owner anymore.

I remember signing the form agreeing to look after him and feeling the weight of responsibility that passed to me as I took him home.

I changed his name and put a new collar with his name tag on it and a contact number should be ever get lost.

Now Roki doesn't need to worry. He is loved, fed, walked and generally spoiled. He shares our food and is part of our family. He sleeps by our bed and comes up for morning and night time cuddles.

It's an illustration but it describes the relationship between Jesus and the believer.

The price that Jesus paid to bring each one of us "home" is His Precious Blood.

With it He promises to look after us forever. He provides, chides, guides and protects our whole life through.

Sadly, I'm not like Roki. He never doubts that I'll feed him or take him out or brush him or give him treats.

Doubts do creep in from time to time, so I need to learn the lesson from my beloved dog and stay trusting Jesus, my Good Shepherd.

He will go to the uttermost to save all who put their hope and trust in Him.

Thank God I've been bought and paid for. I belong to Jesus. You can be too.

I pray that today is not your last chance to be rescued by him.
