Matthew 15:6-9 AMPC
So for the sake of your tradition (the rules handed down by your forefathers), you have set aside the Word of God [depriving it of force and authority and making it of no effect]. [7] You pretenders (hypocrites)! Admirably and truly did Isaiah prophesy of you when he said: [8] These people draw near Me with their mouths and honour Me with their lips, but their hearts hold off and are far away from Me. [9] Uselessly do they worship Me, for they teach as doctrines the commands of men.
Are we guilty of watering down the Gospel of Jesus? Is that why our message lacks the power and conviction that it should have in our lives and, in the lives of others?
Truly we are in a desperate state, but, perhaps, kid ourselves that all is well?
Where is the message from our spiritual leaders?
Are we so bogged down and deceived by the spirit of the age that our minds have become cloudy and deceived?
Are we following "blind guides"?
Matthew 15:14-16 AMPC
Let them alone and disregard them; they are blind guides and teachers. And if a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a ditch. [15] But Peter said to Him, Explain this proverb (this maxim) to us. [16] And He said, Are you also even yet dull and ignorant [without understanding and unable to put things together]?
Now is the time to wake up and perceive the signs of the times biblically!
We should be afraid to become Laodacian Christians:
Revelation 3:17-18 AMPC
For you say, I am rich; I have prospered and grown wealthy, and I am in need of nothing; and you do not realise and understand that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. [18] Therefore I counsel you to purchase from Me gold refined and tested by fire, that you may be [truly] wealthy, and white clothes to clothe you and to keep the shame of your nudity from being seen, and salve to put on your eyes, that you may see.
Yesterday there was a beautiful rainbow (God's promise never to flood the earth again) framed perfectly across the sky.
Most peoe never looked up to see it. They just went on their merry way oblivious to it.
Are we like that? So busy with our problems that we don't look up and see God's promise of salvation?
"When these things begin to happen - Look up, open-eyed, for your redemption draws near!"
Luke 21:28
