Song of Solomon 1:2 NKJV

Let Him kiss me with the kisses of His mouth- For Your love is better than wine.

Yesterday we looked at how Jesus turns the water of our lives into the finest wine kept till "now" - but there's something far greater than that wine of "now-ness"...

Doctors sometimes advise those with bad circulation to take a glass of red wine each day. There are powerful antioxidants which are good for the heart.

Psalm 104:15 NKJV

And wine that makes glad the heart of man, Oil to make his face shine, And bread which strengthens man's heart.

Even Paul advises Timothy:

1 Timothy 5:23 NKJV

No longer drink only water, but use a little wine for your stomach's sake and your frequent infirmities.

Here in Song of Solomon love is championed as being better than wine.

Yes, love, Jesus' amazing love, is good for the heart and the only essence that can intoxicate without the morning after issues!

Anyone who has fallen in love will witness that love can make us a little "drunk" and slightly crazy!

Our beloved occupies every waking minute, our faces flush and our heart skips a beat even at the mention of their name.

That's human love which does dissipate over time with familiarity.

Jesus wants us to maintain the vibrant love that we had when we first believed.

As the old hymn says:

"How precious did that grace appear

the hour I first believed"

I can truly witness that the love Jesus pumps through my spiritual veins is better than any wine.

Spend time alone with Him drinking in the precious love that He wants to shower you with.

Isaiah 30:18 AMPC

And therefore the Lord [earnestly] waits [expecting, looking, and longing] to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are all those who [earnestly] wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him [for His victory, His favour, His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken companionship]!
