Psalm 16:8 AMPC
I have set the Lord continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
I don't know about you but I'm heartily sick of being bombarded from dawn till dusk about coronavirus.
It's like the media wants to focus our attention on this one thing until we're whipped up into a fearful frenzy.
For the most part it's successful! The result is devastating. Fear peers out of scared eyes behind masks. Fear is dominating people's lives.š±
This Psalm gives a welcome relief and a way to combat fear and dread.
Instead of focusing on fear, focus on the Lord.
David gives us the key to silencing fear - he set the Lord CONTINUALLY before him.
So I ask myself: where are my thoughts? what am I dwelling on? what occupies me during the day or when I'm awake at night?
Don't let the media drive your agenda.
It seems that everyone is chasing Government benefits to offset the losses that this pandemic is causing, but there are spiritual benefits that you can claim without filling in long complex forms. They are not means tested.
Actually, believers in Jesus have access to Universal Credit too - He has placed His Goodness in our account and blotted out our wrongs!
The benefits of "setting the Lord CONTINUALLY before us" are unending.
I'm quoting from the New Living Translation, just to emphasise it in modern day language:
Psalm 16:9-11
No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice. My body rests in safety. For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave. You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.
It's impossible to concentrate on Jesus and be constantly gripped with fear.
He's the Great Fear Dissipater.
Whatever is up ahead, He will show you the path to walk on.
You are safe when you trust in Him.
Selah
