Song of Solomon 6:3 I am my beloved’s, And my beloved is mine.
There's something truly wonderful about a one to one relationship born out of love!
Whether it be with a first romance or a long cherished marriage - the sense of belonging is what our human heart craves.
Here, in the book of Song of Solomon, passionate, intimate love is being expressed.
Through these love poems our Lord is reaching out to persuade us of His desire to belong to us and us to Him!
When you first fall in love with someone all you want to do is spend time alone with them, gaze into their eyes, breathe the same air as them, hold their hand and whisper "sweet nothings" in their ear.
Just the mention of their name causes your heart to miss a beat and your face to blush.... c'mon now, you remember, don't you?
It's wonderful to have fellowship with other Christians, but we grow close to Jesus when we spend time alone in His Presence. There He can whisper into our hearts the depth of His unconditional love and truly make us aware that we belong to Him and He to us in a way unique to each one of us.
It's true that God so loved the world, but this means, He loves You individually and would have gone to the cross to if it was just for you alone!
Have you lost that sense of belonging to Jesus, or have you never experienced it?
It's time to come away with Jesus and let Him renew that first love.
Some couples, as they are getting a bit stale in their relationship, start having "date nights" where they can refresh their awareness of each other. They make a definite appointment, to spend time alone together.
Let Jesus have a definite date, take you for a "meal" and let Him show you the depth of His love, which is like a banner over you:
Song of Solomon 2:4 AMPC He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love [for love waved as a protecting and comforting banner over my head when I was near him].
