Yesterday we sat in the garden for our coffee break facing our bottle brush bush. It's in full splendour right now - a mass of bright red "brushes".
Each crimson "wand" waves invitingly in the breeze attracting many and varied sorts of bees to sup the nectar. It's a stunning sight.
Likewise, when we see Jesus in all His Glory, as the Holy Spirit opens our hearts, we are attracted to Him.
Like the bees on the bottle brush bush we will be drawn towards, and find in Him, the sweet nectar of Life.
Moreover, we are called to be "living letters" - advertising Jesus to those around.
2 Corinthians 3:3 AMPC You show and make obvious that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, not written with ink but with [the] Spirit of [the] living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
Am I bright with the Son of God so that others will be attracted to find out about Jesus?
Can they find sweet nectar or will they find something bitter or false?
2 Corinthians 2:14 AMPC
But thanks be to God, Who in Christ always leads us in triumph [as trophies of Christ's victory] and through us spreads and makes evident the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere.
Will I be able to provide answers to their questions?
1 Peter 3:15-16 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behaviour in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.
If my life was the only "Bible" someone could read, would it point others to Jesus?
Mmmmm... selah!
A prayer: Father, by the power of the Holy Spirit, so fill me with the sweet nectar of Jesus that others may be drawn to the Good News that Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Take away any bitterness that may sour my witness - for Your Glory, in Jesus' name.
