Matthew 25:13 NLT
So you, too, must keep watch! For you do not know the day or hour of my return.
We have a fox who visits our garden. This year we've only managed a few glimpses of him, even though food is left out for him to eat. He arrives at dead of night and we're fast asleep when he comes. Probably it's around midnight, as our foster dog used to pop out to the kitchen around that time. She must have heard him.
Normally, the only way to catch sight of him would be to sit in the kitchen, camera in hand, waiting for the light to come on . We would have to be alert and ready for his arrival!
However, in all likelihood we would fall asleep and miss his visit. So, we decided to invest in a trail camera, which can be tied to a tree in the garden and it will always be ready to photograph the fox whenever he arrives.
In this uncertain world, we have a promise from Jesus that He will return to set up His Kingdom.
When will it be, we don't know.
Jesus plainly said that even He didn't know the day or the hour of His Return Mark 13:32
But we have to be ready.
The parables in Matthew 25 are all about being ready, alert and prepared for when Jesus comes back to earth to set things right.
At the moment the door is wide open for you and me to join the "party" of Jesus and be ready, but there will be a time when the door will shut.
If you're not ready then, it will be too late.
I want to make sure I'm ready, don't you?
