Revelation 1:17-18 AMPC
When I saw Him, I fell at His feet as if dead. But He laid His right hand on me and said, Do not be afraid! I am the First and the Last, [18] And the Ever-living One [I am living in the eternity of the eternities]. I died, but see, I am alive forevermore; and I possess the keys of death and Hades (the realm of the dead).
Sit and imagine back as far as you can.... back far into the mists of time ..yes, back even further than that....
There has never been a time when Jesus didn't exist.
It's sounds so fantastic, like the beginning of Star Wars.... Long ago and faraway.
But this is no science fiction story. It is the reality of Christ.
Is that comforting? Isn't that amazing?
He boldly told the crowd:
Before Abraham was I AM
John 8:58
I and the Father are One
John 10:30
That really upset the religious leaders of His day.
But having a close personal relationship with Jesus opens up eternal life and endless possibilities....
Because He knows the end from the beginning.... He sees where I've put my keys when I've lost them; He knows who I should love and who I should leave; He is aware of what's wrong with me when I'm ill and gives wisdom of what to do about it.
He saw me before I was born and formed in my mum's womb (Psalm 139).... He knows all the days of my life, what I will say, do and be. Even my thoughts are not hidden from Him.
All of this would be daunting if He didn't love me - but He does - always and forever.
Those Eternal Open Arms of Love, stretched out on the Cross in agony, are still stretched out to welcome each individual as they turn to Him.
A Buddhist friend of mine called Jesus a holy angel, but that doesn't do Jesus justice.
He is the Always and Forever King of kings and Lord of lords....
As the Nicene creed states:
"I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ - true God from God of one being with the Father"...
Truly, "What a Friend we have in Jesus"...
Give Him your today and He'll take care of tomorrow - always and forever.
