What time I am afraid, I will trust in You
Psalm 56:3
This is another of my "life verses".
How many times have I repeated this over and over during flight turbulence, take offs and landings!
Fear is a fact of our lives:
Fear of failure
Fear of the future
Fear of cancer
Fear of financial hardship
Fear of war
Fear of losing loved ones
Fear of people
The list is endless and I'm sure you can add to the list too.
Fear can paralyse us into inaction, so that we live life in neutral - never doing or achieving anything.
Joyce Meyer wrote a book "Do it afraid"... it's a great motto.
Shyness has often been a snare in my own life and each time I have had to meet a new client for work, I have to "Do it afraid"!
Over time, as the Lord has proved faithful in such situations, the fear has lessened, but it's always there in the background, ready to pounce.
It keeps me from making my own "Declaration of Independence" from Jesus - I always need Him with me to hold my hand.
I have never achieved my water baptismal verse:
Joshua 1:9 NLT
This is my command - be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."
As I tell my dentist: "I'm a state registered coward"!
Yet, I can, by God's Grace "do it afraid"!
I'm very much with Gideon, whose estimation of himself, ties in with my own:
Judges 6:14-16 NLT
Then the LORD turned to him and said, "Go with the strength you have, and rescue Israel from the Midianites. I AM sending you!" [15] "But Lord," Gideon replied, "how can I rescue Israel? My clan is the weakest in the whole tribe of Manasseh, and I am the least in my entire family!" [16] The LORD said to him, "I will be with you. And you will destroy the Midianites as if you were fighting against one man."
We cowards can still be used by God, because of the Great "I AM with you" Lord....
Afraid of today... then do it afraid with God!
