Psalm 103:8-12 AMPC
The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and plenteous in mercy and loving-kindness. [9] He will not always chide or be contending, neither will He keep His anger forever or hold a grudge. [10] He has not dealt with us after our sins nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. [11] For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great are His mercy and loving-kindness toward those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him. [12] As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.
Sometimes in our lives we fail and fall "big time". Even like David did with Bathsheba! Yes, everyone reading this has done wrong multiple times.
Then we become tormented day and night by what we have done or we make it an even worse sin by trying to conceal the original act (see king David once again).
There is only one solution to remove such bad actions from our lives - don't try covering up or running away - confess and bring it to Jesus.
As this wonderful passage tells us He has removed our sin so far away - as far as from the east from the west..... That's a long, long way!
It's not cheap grace, it cost Him EVERYTHING.
As He hung there dying on the cross there were two reactions from the criminals hanging there with Him.
One cried out in anger and scorn, the other saw Jesus carrying his sins and cried out for salvation!
When you look at the cross what is your reaction?
Luke 23:39-42 AMPC
One of the criminals who was suspended kept up a railing at Him, saying, Are You not the Christ (the Messiah)? Rescue Yourself and us [from death]! [40] But the other one reproved him, saying, Do you not even fear God, seeing you yourself are under the same sentence of condemnation and suffering the same penalty? [41] And we indeed suffer it justly, receiving the due reward of our actions; but this Man has done nothing out of the way [nothing strange or eccentric or perverse or unreasonable]. [42] Then he said to Jesus, Lord, remember me when You come in Your kingly glory!
I'm quoting JD Farag's ABC's of salvation -
A= admit you've sinned and deserve judgement
B= believe Jesus died for your sins
C= call out to Jesus to save you
The "good" thief did just that and INSTANTLY received forgiveness and a place in Heaven with Jesus!
Luke 23:42-43 AMPC
Then he said to Jesus, Lord, remember me when You come in Your kingly glory! [43] And He answered him, Truly I tell you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.
You may think it's too late to be saved or your sins are too deep - not so!
You can have your sin, shame and guilt removed as far as the east is from the west "today"!
A new life awaits ALL who sincerely call upon the name of the Lord.
If you've never prayed the ABC's of salvation - NOW is as good a time as any!
Prayer
Jesus, my life is a mess of my own making. I admit I've done so many things wrong and need forgiveness.
I believe that you carried my sin to the cross and took my punishment.
I'm calling on you now to save me, remove my sin and give me a new heart, a new start and an eternal home in Heaven when I die.
