A united heart

Psalm 86:10-13 AMPC

For You are great and work wonders! You alone are God. [11] Teach me Your way, O Lord, that I may walk and live in Your truth; direct and unite my heart [solely, reverently] to fear and honour Your name. [12] I will confess and praise You, O Lord my God, with my whole (united) heart; and I will glorify Your name forevermore. [13] For great is Your mercy and loving-kindness toward me; and You have delivered me from the depths of Sheol [from the exceeding depths of affliction].

It's so easy to be distracted in a world of endless social media clips flashed across our smartphones and tablets.

Just this morning Google presented me with many images from the past, complete with background music, as I was about to start my devotional reading!

It was so very tempting to get sidetracked into walking down memory lane.

Today, more than ever we need a united heart before the Lord.

One that is entirely focussed on following Jesus.

He knew what it was to have to "set His face like flint" in order to complete our salvation:

Because the Sovereign Lord helps Me,  I will not be disgraced.

Therefore have I set My face like flint, and I know I will not be put to shame.

Isaiah 50:7

Now when the time was almost come for Jesus to be received up [to heaven], He steadfastly and determinedly set His face to go to Jerusalem.

Luke 9:51 AMPC

Prayer

Lord please help me to fully focus on following You and give me a determination to set my face like flint if necessary.
