Psalm 31:21. ESV

Blessed be the Lord, for He has wondrously shown His steadfast love to me when I was in a besieged city.

Grief sets up a siege around our hearts and infiltrates every part of life.

I remember doing Christmas preparations, putting up the tree, sending cards, full of cheer - then tragedy struck and we were walled in with sorrow.

It's like we were cut off from all that was happening around us - as the Psalm says it was "a besieged city".

Yet, no matter how dark and deep the sadness, no one can shut out the Presence of the Lord.

Psalm 139:7-12 TPT

Where could I go from Your Spirit? Where could I run and hide from Your face? [8] If I go up to Heaven, You're there! If I go down to the realm of the dead, You're there too! [9] If I fly with wings into the shining dawn, You're there! If I fly into the radiant sunset, You're there waiting! [10] Wherever I go, Your hand will guide me; Your strength will empower me. [11] It's impossible to disappear from You or to ask the darkness to hide me, for Your presence is everywhere, bringing light into my night. [12] There is no such thing as darkness with You. The night, to You, is as bright as the day; there's no difference between the two.

Under the siege of grief, be assured, Jesus is not shut out, He is closer still.

Feel Him in the hugs of dear friends, the kind words of loved ones.

Nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.

The siege will be broken, the sun will break through the clouds of loss.

God is faithful, even, yes ESPECIALLY in our night seasons.

Wait and see!
