Isaiah 9:2 AMPC
The people who walked in darkness have seen a great Light; those who dwelt in the land of intense darkness and the shadow of death, upon them has the Light shined.
There was a clatter, shreiks and cries of shock, pain and then anger....
I jumped up from bed, to find my nearest and dearest in the bathroom, pouring with blood from a deep cut on his head and our dog cowering in the darkness of another room.
That's what happens when we try to walk in darkness at dead of night!
Said "nearest and dearest" had stumbled over our dog, asleep in the corridor, and, had stood on his paws. Consequently he had fallen into a sharp object and cut himself.
"Why didn't you put the light on?" I asked accusingly. He wasn't in a state to reply civilly!
Spiritually, we walk in darkness without putting on the Light of Jesus.
We stumble, hurt ourselves and others, then end up needing God's intervention to save us.
The "Great Light" foretold in Isaiah is revealed as Jesus, who proclaimed Himself "The Light of the world":
John 8:12 AMPC
Once more Jesus addressed the crowd. He said, I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me will not be walking in the dark, but will have the Light which is Life.
Without Jesus, we all are staggering about in darkness without true meaning and purpose.
Don't stay in the dark. Switch on Jesus! He will fix you up, bind up your wounds and bring you peace.
Choose to walk in The Light:
1 John 1:7, ESV:
But if we walk in the Light, as He is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
