A good question to ask

Psalm 42:11 NKJV

Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.

It is a natural course of life to feel "down in the dumps" from time to time.

Disappointments abound, loss of loved ones, world events and a glance in the mirror at "the march of of time" can all contrive to rob us of our God-given joy.

Perhaps it's then we need to ask ourselves the same question that the Psalmist did in the verse above ...

Sit down and have a Holy Ghost inquest into "why", "what caused it" ...

Have I focused on issues beyond my control, have I lost my Hope in the Lord's goodness and ultimate victory up ahead?

The good news is that the Lord is the "Lifter of my head".

These verses are a good soul conversation in the midst of troubling issues:

Psalm 3:1-4 NKJV

LORD, how they have increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me. [2] Many are they who say of me, "There is no help for him in God." Selah [3] But You, O LORD, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head. [4] I cried to the LORD with my voice, And He heard me from His holy hill. Selah

No matter how low we feel, God's love is deeper still and His Everlasting Arms are there to lift us up as we trust in Him.
