A foretaste

John 7:37-38 NLT

On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, "Anyone who is thirsty may come to Me! [38] Anyone who believes in Me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, 'Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.'"

Isaiah 58:11 NLT

The LORD will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.

Yesterday we looked at the future river that will flow from Jerusalem - a river of life - renewing even the Dead Sea.

Believers in Jesus have a foretaste of that river.

This is one passage where we read of Jesus shouting - He wanted so much to emphasise this Promise.

Yes, your life may seem as dead as the Dead Sea, but when Jesus comes in there is life, renewal and hope.

I remember that evening being filled with the Holy Spirit. My whole being was about to burst with joy and praise. I spoke in a new tongue and spent all night on my knees praising Jesus.

Nothing has ever been the same again. Jesus is always renewing and giving that living water to my soul.

This can be your story too.

Take Him at His Word and that river can flow in you - bringing new life, peace and joy.

Yes, now we have a foretaste of the river of life, a spiritual river keeping us hydrated in Jesus until He returns.

The outlook is grim with wars, natural disasters and the threat of new pandemics on the way, but the uplook is marvellous for believers in Jesus.

Luke 21:28 NLT

So when all these things begin to happen, stand and look up, for your salvation is near!"
